Men's Tennis Begins Sun Belt Conference Play

ARLINGTON – Winners of three straight, the UT Arlington men's tennis team will begin Sun Belt Conference action this weekend as they host Louisiana (Friday, March 18 – 12 pm) and travel to Coastal Carolina (Sunday, March 20 – 9 am) for a pair of matches.
 
The Mavericks are looking to carry over momentum from a week ago that saw wins over Boston College, Rice and Lamar as UTA improved to 11-6 on the season.
 
Most impressive was Miguel Cabrera who earned his first career Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award after going 3-1 in both singles and doubles action a week ago. He now has a career-high 15 wins on the season. 
 
Alan Sau Franco leads the Mavericks with 15 wins overall, while Maks Lukman is leading UTA in dual matches with 11 wins on the year.
 
SCOUTING LOUISIANA
The Ragin' Cajuns enter the weekend ranked #38 in the ITA polls and are 14-1 on the year with their lone loss coming at UTSA on January 16. Orio Fillat Gimenez leads the Cajuns with a 13-1 record on court three, while Vasil Dimitrov is sitting at 12-3 on the year.
 
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina enters the weekend with a 7-7 record on the year and 0-1 record in SBC play. Niccolo Rossi and Bastien Huon lead the Chanticleers with eight wins. They are also the top tandem is doubles action, owning a 7-4 record in doubles matches.
 
UP NEXT
The Mavericks host their final two matches of the season next weekend (March 25, 27) when they take on Georgia State and Georgia Southern at the UTA Tennis Center.
