BOONE, N.C. – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (13-1, 2-0 SBC) won its 11
th straight Sun Belt Conference match in a row, defeating App State 4-0 on Friday morning. The winning streak dates back to 2019.
The Mavericks clinched the doubles point quickly, taking lines one and two over the Mountaineers.
Liz Chileno and
Ana Paula Jimenez wrapped up a 6-1 win on court two before
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek clinched the point with a 6-2 win on court one. The Mavericks also took court three by default as App State only have five available players and could not field a third doubles team.
Due to the Mountaineers only have five available players, the Mavericks automatically won on court six by default and needing just two more points to win the match.
Carla Pons added the third point for the Mavericks with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win on line three before
Liz Chileno followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court two to clinch the match for the Mavericks.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will head to South Carolina to take on the Chanticleers on Sunday morning (March 20) at 10 am in Conway.
