CONWAY, S.C. – The UT Arlington women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and improved to 14-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Sun Belt Conference with a 4-2 win over Coastal Carolina on Sunday morning. The Mavericks have now won 12 straight SBC matches dating back to 2019.
The Chanticleers jumped out to an early lead, clinching the doubles point to begin the morning.
Liz Chileno and
Ana Paula Jimenez won their match at line two 6-2, but losses on line one and three followed to give Coastal the 1-0 lead.
Tara Gorinsek quickly tied the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court four, keeping her undefeated season alive.
Coastal would retake the lead would a 6-2, 6-1 win on court one over
Momoka Horiguchi, but that would be the last point the Chants would receive.
Liz Chileno tied the match at two with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court two before
Sarina Reinertsen put the Mavs one point away with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court five.
Ana Paula Jimenez clinched the Mavs win with a 6-3, 7-6 win on court six as UTA took the match 4-2.
The Mavericks will return home next weekend to take on South Alabama (March 26) and Troy (March 27) with both matches beginning at 10 am at the UTA Tennis Center.
