MOBILE, Ala. – The UT Arlington baseball team (6-12, 0-2 SBC) fell to South Alabama on Saturday night at Eddie Stanky Field 12-4.
 
Cade Citelli (L, 0-2) earned the start but lasted just one inning, allowing five runs off three hits.  Sam Collins (1.1 IP) gave up one run off two hits. Jack Hagan (3.2 IP) allowed six runs off six hits.  Trevor Pruitt (2.0 IP) tossed the final two scoreless innings.
 
The Mavericks finished with eight hits on the day, led by Tanner Rice's 3-for-4 day at the plate.  Rice and Wilson Galvan both finished with two RBI.
 
Following a leadoff groundout in the bottom of the first, the next six Jaguar batters reached base, scoring three runs along the way.  A bases loaded sacrifice bunt scored two more to put the Mavericks in an early five-run hole.
 
South Alabama plated another run in the second inning. After a leadoff single found his way to third base, a single to center field scored the Jaguar run.
 
The Jaguars added three more runs in the fourth inning, using a two-out, three-run home run to take a 9-0 lead.
 
The Mavericks got two back in the fifth inning, using a two-out rally to plate two runs.  Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Wilson Galvan to deliver a two-RBI single.
 
With runners on second and third in the sixth inning, the Jaguars delivered a double and single to score three more insurance runs.
 
Tanner Rice added two more runs for the Mavericks in the eighth inning with a single to right field.
 
The final game of the series will take place at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Mobile at Stanky Field.
