ARLINGTON, Texas – The Mavericks sit on an overall record of 10-11 with a conference record of 2-3 as UTA secured its first Sun Belt series win over Coastal Carolina with a 5-2 victory Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks out-hit the Chanticleers 12-9 as four Mavs recorded a multi-hit contest. Shortstop

Morgan Westbrook all notched two hits each.

Kaylee Cavazos have been top notch so far this week as Smith and Cavazos have knocked two home runs each. The pair have totaled 11 RBI as Smith has 7 and Cavazos has 4.
Saturday's 5-2 win over the Chanticleers secured UTA's first conference series win.

Right-hander
Gracie Bumpurs earned her eighth start in the circle this season as the sophomore went on to throw 4.0 innings allowing two runs across. Across 20 batters, Bumpurs gave up just four hits.
Freshman
Jessica Adams came in for relief in the top of the fifth inning for Bumpurs where she kept Coastal Carolina off the board for the remainder of the game.
Bumpurs earned fourth win of the year with a now 4-3 record as Adams recorded her second save of the season.
PLAY BY PLAY: Coastal Carolina (W, 5-2)
- UTA came out swinging on their first a-bats as Murphy launched a solo shot over the left field wall that put the Mavs on the board 1-0.
- After a scoreless second inning on both sides, Coastal tied things up 1-1 with an RBI-single to left center.
- Freshman Cavazos recorded her second home run of the series as she sent a 2-run bomb over the left field wall that scored White. Meagan Smith kept things going as she tabbed an RBI-single that extended UTA's lead 4-1.
- Coastal's Mikaya Thomas cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth with an RBI-single down the left field line that made it 4-2.
- The Mavs added to the board 5-2 as Erickson crossed the plate from a throwdown to shortstop.
- Adams kept the Chanticleers off of the board for the remainder of the game giving Bumpurs her fourth win of the season as Adams recorded her second save.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will wrap up the three-game series with the final game Sunday at 12 p.m. against Coastal Carolina at Allan Saxe Field.
