ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (15-1, 4-0 SBC) continued to dominate in Sun Belt Conference play, sweeping South Alabama 4-0 on Saturday to win their 13th straight Sun Belt Conference win dating back to 2019. UTA now sits in sole possession of first place in the SBC.
The Mavericks started off strong in doubles and took the early lead.
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek were first to win on Court 1, taking down Nikola Kohoutova and Luminita Tutunaru 6-3.
Carla Pons and Sarina Reinersten then clinched the doubles point on Court 3, winning 6-2.
The singles matches followed in a similar manner, with three wins for UTA as the Mavericks used their momentum to their advantage.
Ana Paula Jimenez finished first, winning handily 6-0, 6-1 on Court 6.
Tara Gorinsek followed on Court 4, continuing her undefeated season with a 6-1, 6-2 win. She is now 13-0 in dual singles play.
Sarina Reinertsen secured the match on Court 5, winning 6-0, 6-2, also moving to 13-0 in dual singles play. The win gave the Mavericks a 4-0 win over the Jaguars and their first win over the Sun Belt Conference foe.
