ARLINGTON - The UT Arlington men's tennis team (11-8, 0-2 SBC) will play its final two home matches of the spring this weekend when they host Georgia State (March 25) and Georgia Southern (March 27) at the UTA Tennis Center.Â
Maks Lukman and
Alan Sau Franco lead the Mavs with 11 wins on the season in dual competition. Sau Franco has 18 total wins dating back to tournament action, while also being the lone Maverick to be 2-0 in Sun Belt competition. Four other Mavericks have double-digit singles wins including tournament action -
Daichi Akiyoshi (10),
Ricardo Alban (11),
Miguel Cabrera (15), and
Solano Caffarena (10).
Anton Shepp and
Miguel Cabrera have turned in on in doubles competition, leading the Mavericks with a 7-4 record on the year which includes a 3-1 record on court two.
Alan Sau Franco and
Ricardo Alban currently sit at 1-0 in Sun Belt competition as a tandem.
SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
The Panthers sit at 10-6 on the year and 2-0 in Sun Belt play with wins over Troy and South Alabama. This will be the fourth matchup between the two program with the Panthers owning a 2-1 record. They last met in the SBC Tournament in 2019 with Georgia State coming out victorious 4-2.
SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN
The Eagles sit at 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt entering this weekend with a win over Troy and loss to South Alabama last weekend. This will be the fifth match between the two programs with UTA owning a 3-1 record against Southern. They last met in 2019 with the Mavericks coming out on top 7-0 at the UTA Tennis Center.Â
