ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (11-9) suffered an 0-4 loss to Georgia State on Friday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center, giving them an 0-3 record in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Mavericks were quick to drop the doubles point at the start of the match.
Miguel Cabrera and
Anton Shepp were the first to fall, 6-3 on Court 1, followed by
Alan Sau Franco and
Ricardo Alban on Court 3 with the same score.
The Panthers took the lead in singles winning the three necessary points to clinch the match. After losing the first set 0-6, Sau Franco fought hard in the second set, but ultimately fell 5-7 to drop the court one contest. Soon after,
Solano Caffarena was defeated in straight sets 3-6, 1-6 on Court 5.
Daichi Akiyoshi played a close match against Patrick Lazo on Court 6, but ultimately lost 4-6, 3-6, securing the match for the Panthers.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will take on Georgia Southern on Sunday at noon to round out their home schedule.
