ARLINGTON - The UT Arlington women's tennis team (16-1, 5-0 SBC) claimed its seventh straight victory on Sunday morning, sweeping the Troy Trojans 4-0 at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavericks have also increased their Sun Belt winning streak to 14 matches.
The Mavericks got things rolling in doubles play, quickly picking up the point to take the early lead.
Liz Chileno and
Ana Paula Jimenez took line two 6-3 before
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek clinched the point with a 6-4 win on court one.
The momentum carried over into singles action. Gorinsek followed up her doubles win with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court four.
Ana Paula Jimenez put the Mavericks just a point away from the team win with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court six. After helping claim the doubles victory earlier in the match, Horiguchi claimed the match victory as well with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court one as the Mavs took the match 4-0.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will travel to Arkansas State on Wednesday, March 30 at 10 am. The match is being made up after being postponed earlier in the season.
