LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Mavericks' offense struggled throughout the weekend as UTA dropped its final game of the series to Louisiana 10-0 Sunday afternoon.
UTA, uncharacteristically, produced just six hits over the three-game series with just one run scored. The Mavs now sit on an overall record of 11-14 and 3-6 in conference play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Louisiana (L, 10-0)
Junior
Reagan Hukill (1-2) was responsible for the Mavericks' lone hit of the game as she knocked a base-hit up the middle.
Freshman
Jessica Adams earned the start on the mound as she went on throw 3 innings for the Mavericks. The right-hander allowed 5 earned runs across 17 Cajuns faced.
Sophomore
Gracie Bumpurs relieved Adams in the circle and threw just 1 inning before Louisiana ended things in a 10-0 run-rule in 5 innings. UTA struggled to answer back giving Adams her ninth loss of the season.
PLAY BY PLAY: Louisiana (L, 10-0)
- Louisiana got things started in their first at-bats as they put up 3 runs off three Maverick errors and an RBI-double from Stormy Kotzelnick.
- Hukill lead things off in the third inning with a single up the middle, but UTA couldn't get her across. The Mavs trailed by 3 heading into the bottom of the second.
- The Cajuns extended their lead 5-0 from an RBI-single in the second and a solo home run in the third. From there, 2 more RBIs made it a 7-0 game heading into the fourth.
- Louisiana put up 3 more runs in the bottom of the fourth leaving UTA with some work to do as they trailed by 10.
- UTA was unable to fight back as they fell to Louisiana 10-0 in the final game of the series.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will be back at home Wednesday, March 30 as UTA will welcome Sam Houston for a midweek contest. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
