ARLINGTON– The 68th ranked UT Arlington women's tennis team (17-1, 6-0 SBC) picked up another conference win on Saturday, defeating Georgia Southern 4-0 at the UTA Tennis Center and improving its SBC win streak to 15 matches dating back to 2019. The Mavericks still stand at first place in the Sun Belt Conference with a 6-0 record.
The Mavericks swept the doubles point and got the early 1-0 lead.
Carla Pons and
Sarina Reinertsen were the first to get a win, 6-2 on Court 3. Tara Gornisek and
Momoka Horiguchi quickly followed, winning 6-3 on Court 1 to improve their record to 9-2 on the season.
UTA continued to dominate in the singles matches with wins at lines 6, 5, and 3.
Ana Paula Jimenez started off strong on Court 6, winning 6-3, 6-0.
Sarina Reinertsen continued her winning streak after defeating Mila Hartig with the same score on Court 5, improving her record to 14-0.
With the Mavericks up 3-0, the team needed one win to clinch the match.
Carla Pons fought hard on Court 3 and triumphed 6-3, 6-1 in order to secure the win and sweep the Eagles 4-0.
The Mavericks will celebrate Senior Day tomorrow at 10 am against Georgia State as they honor
Momoka Horiguchi and
Carla Pons prior to the match.
