JONESBORO, Ark. - Winners of seven straight, the UT Arlington women's tennis team will travel to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State in a midweek Sun Belt Conference match. The two teams are set to play at 10 am.
The Mavericks have won 14 straight Sun Belt Conference matches, dating back to 2019. A large part of that is their success in winning the doubles point. In dual action this year, the Mavs are winning 73 percent of their doubles matches. Momoka origuchi and
Tara Gorinsek are 8-2 on the season at No. 1 doubles, while
Liz Chileno and
Ana Paula Jimenez are 8-1 at line two.
The team is even better in singles dual play, winning 82 percent of their matches. Against Sun Belt competition, that improves to 88 percent - losing just two singles dual matches all year.Â
Tara Gorinsek is 14-0 on the year, while
Sarina Reinertsen is 13-0.Â
Ana Paula Jimenez has gone 13-1 in dual matches.Â
Liz Chileno is fourth on the team with 10 wins and only two losses.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS STATE
The RedWolves are 5-10 on the season and 1-4 in the Sun Belt Conference this season. A-State is coming off a 4-1 win over App State on Sunday.Thea Rice has locked down the No. 1 singles line, owning a 7-6 record on the year. In doubles action, Rice and partner Nejla Zukic are 9-5 in dual play and 4-1 in Sun Belt action.

The Mavericks will return to Arlington for three-straight home matches, beginning this Saturday (April 2) at 10 am at the UTA Tennis Center against Georgia Southern.
