ABILENE, Texas – With a breakout fifth inning and outstanding performances from
Morgan Max and
Gracie Bumpurs in the circle, the UT Arlington softball team ended the midweek matchup at Abilene Christian in run-rule fashion.
The Mavericks' bats exploded in the fifth inning as the team piled on nine runs off seven hits that led to a 9-0 run-rule victory over the Wildcats.
Freshman Max and sophomore Bumpurs faced a total of 20 batters as Max ultimately earned her first career-win in the circle for UTA. Not only did the lefty tab her first career-win, but she also reached a new game-high of four strike outs.
Bumpurs came in for Max in the bottom of the fifth as the sophomore didn't allow a single hit over the four Wildcats faced. In the one inning on the mound, Bumpurs came away with two strike outs.
