Men's Tennis Prepare for Sun Belt Tournament

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The 6th-seeded UT Arlington men's tennis team will head to Peachtree City, Georgia on Thursday at 1 p.m. to take on the No. 3 seed Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the Peachtree City Tennis Center for the start of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament

The Mavericks enter the tournament with a 12-11 record overall and went 1-5 in the Sun Belt during the regular season. UTA lost to the then 38th-ranked Cajuns in a tight 4-3 match that saw a back-and-forth battle with the Mavericks holding the lead at different points during the matches.

Alan Sau Franco leads the Mavericks as the 2022 First Team Single All-Conference selection sits with 19 wins on the season and went 3-1 against Sun Belt opponents as UTA's primary No. 1 player.

Miguel Cabrera (16), Maks Lukman (13), Daichi Akiyoshi (11), Ricardo Alban (11) and Solano Caffarena (11) will all look to make an impact this weekend and improve upon their double-digit win seasons.

In doubles action, Anton Shepp and Miguel Cabrera have led the Mavericks with an 8-6 record, including five wins on court one.  The Mavericks will need to improve their overall doubles play if they want to come away with an upset over the Cajuns.

UTA is looking to advance to championship the for the first time since 2016, when they advanced all the way to the championship, winning the conference title over South Alabama.

Fans will have a few options on how to follow along with the match.  All matches will be aired on ESPN+ this year and the Sun Belt will provide live stats for the matches, as well.
