FORT WORTH - The UT Arlington baseball team (11-26) fell to the 21st ranked TCU Horned Frogs in seven innings on Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium, 15-1.
Jack Hagan (L, 1-3) started for the Mavericks in the loss, giving up five runs on four hits in 1.2 innings pitched.
Gray Bailey (0.1 IP),
Hunter Marshall (2.0 IP),
Joe Steeber (0.1 IP),
Trevor Pruitt (0.2 IP) and
Jarod Seals (1.0 IP) combined to toss the final innings in relief.
Following a scoreless first inning, the Horned Frogs used an explosive second inning to open the game. The Frogs would bat around the order, finishing with seven hits as they scored seven runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead over the Mavericks.
The game stay at that score until TCU used another impressive inning to plate eight more runs. A leadoff strikeout started off the inning, but the next four batters reached base, scoring three runs along the way.
A two-out rally following a second strikeout saw the Horned Frogs score five more runs as the Mavericks found themselves in a fifteen run deficit.Â
Nick Pierce was the lone Maverick to score on the day, using a leadoff double and two wild pitches to score in the sixth inning.
The Mavericks will return to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend as they travel to Coastal Carolina to take on the Chanticleers in a three-game series beginning Friday, April 22.
