TROY, Ala. - The UT Arlington men's tennis team (12-10, 1-4 SBC) fell to the Troy Trojans (14-9, 1-3 SBC) on Saturday morning 4-2 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, taking the doubles point after winning the tiebreaking third match in doubles competition.
Anton Shepp and
Miguel Cabrera took court one 6-4, but the Trojans bounced back on court two, defeating
Solano Caffarena and
Daichi Akiyoshi 6-4 before clinching the doubles point with a court three win over
Alan Sau Franco and
Ricardo Alban 6-4.
The Mavericks quickly tied the match with a 6-4, 6-4
Maks Lukman win on court four. Once again, the Trojans had an answer. Troy took the next two points by winning lines three and six over Shepp and Akiyoshi.Â
Solano Caffarena put the Mavericks back on the board with a win on court five, defeating Vito Llinares 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. Â
Needing just one point to win the match, the Trojans used a three set match on court two against
Miguel Cabrera to clinch the victory. Cabrera took the first set 3-6, but would fall 6-4, 6-4 in the final two sets.
UTA will end its regular season tomorrow at 9 am when they travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on South Alabama.
