ARLINGTON, Texas – The Mavericks clinched the conference series against the Warhawks Saturday afternoon with a final score of 5-4 as UTA improved its overall record to 14-14 with a 5-6 record in conference play.

The Mavericks put together a total of seven hits Saturday afternoon as senior
Meagan Smith tabbed 4 RBI off a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth that put UTA up 5-4.
Third baseman
KJ Murphy and catcher
Courtney Ogle came away with two hits apiece as Murphy went 2-3 and Ogle went 2-2 with 1 RBI.
UTA's
Gracie Bumpurs threw a complete game against the Warhawks as the sophomore allowed three earned runs off six hits. Bumpurs went on to face 29 batters with 3 strike outs.
The Mavs secured the series win giving Bumpurs her sixth win of the season as she improved her record to 6-4.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. ULM (W, 5-4)
- The Warhawks and Mavericks went four innings without scoring a single run before ULM took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth.
- UTA quickly answered back as Courtney Ogle brought in Murphy with an RBI-single through the left side. The Mavs didn't stop there as senior Meagan Smith took ULM's Adrianna Chavarria yard with a grand slam that put the Mavericks up 5-3 heading into the sixth inning.
- The Warhawks tried to comeback in the top of the seventh as a UTA error allowed for ULM to make it a 5-4 ball game.
- However, the Mavericks were able to hold on as UTA clinched the conference series against the Warhawks in a 5-4 defeat.
ON DECK
UTA will face ULM for the final game of the series Sunday, April 3 with the first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m.
