TROY, Ala. – Behind a stellar outing from Morgan Max and the bat of Sophie Wideman, the UT Arlington softball team picked up a 3-1-win Saturday as the Mavs evened the series with the Trojans.

The Mavs now sit on an overall record of 21-19 and a conference record of 11-9.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: vs. Troy (W, 3-1)
The Mavericks put together just two hits Saturday afternoon as senior Kimber Cortemelia went 1-2 and senior Sophie Wideman went 1-3 with a 3-run home run – hirst first of the year. Wideman's home run was the lone hit that put UTA on the board first to secure the win.

Freshman Morgan Max threw her first complete game of the season as she also reached a new career-high of nine strike outs. The lefty tabbed yet another dominant performance in the circle as she allowed just one run off two hits and did not allow a single hit from the Trojan offense through six innings.

Max earned her third win of the season as she sits on a 3-0 record.

PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Troy (W, 3-1)

• The Mavericks scored first in the top of the third courtesy of a three-run home run from the bat of senior Sophie Wideman. Wideman's long ball gave UTA a 3-0 lead which scored Erickson and Langston.
• Troy went four innings before the Trojans were able to plate their first run of the game as Kelly Horne scored on a Mavericks error to cut the deficit to 3-1.
• UTA was able to keep the Trojans off the board for the remainder of the game ending in a 3-1 victory.

ON DECK
The Mavericks will look to secure the series win Sunday with the final game of the weekend scheduled for 11 a.m. from Troy Softball Complex.
