TROY, Ala. – The UT Arlington softball team dropped its final game of the series at Troy Sunday afternoon as the Mavericks' offense couldn't manage to knock a single hit ending in a 5-0 loss.
The Mavs' overall record stands at 21-20 and a Sun Belt record of 11-10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: vs. Troy (L, 5-0)
UTA's lineup struggled Sunday afternoon as the Mavericks were unable to knock a single hit, giving Troy's Leanna Johnson her third no-hitter of the season.
The Mavericks were able to get a total of four runners on base courtesy of walks from
Sophie Wideman,
Morgan Rios,
Meagan Smith and
Lindsey Franklin but could not find a way to plate any across.
Freshman
Morgan Max took her first loss of the season after allowing four runs – one earned run – off three hits. Max faced a total of 10 Trojans in just 1.1 innings of work. Jessica
Adams came in for Max in the second inning to throw the rest of the game. The right-hander gave up just one run off four hits over 20 batters.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Troy (L, 5-0)
- The Trojans scored first in the bottom of the second as the team was able to put up four runs off a pair of Maverick errors and two RBI-singles.
- Troy extended its lead to 5-0 after an RBI-double from the bat of Jade Sinness that put one more on the board for the Trojans in the bottom of the sixth.
- The Mavericks struggled to get their bats going throughout the game as UTA gave Troy's Leanna Johnson a no-hitter.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will head to Boone, NC as the team looks to face App State for a three-game conference series beginning Friday, Apr. 29 with the first pitch at 5:00 p.m. EST.
