Mavericks Take Game One in Atlanta

ATLANTA – In a 5-1 win over Georgia State Friday night, the UT Arlington softball team picked up its fourth-straight conference win as the squad improved their Sun Belt record to 7-6.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: at Georgia State (W, 5-1)
Third baseman KJ Murphy led the Maverick's offense going 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI as freshman Aaliyah White also came away with a multi-hit game going 2-3 at the plate.

Graduate student Morgan Rios knocked two RBI against the Panthers as she went 1-3. Following Rios is Meagan Smith who launched a solo home run making it her seventh long ball of the season.

Junior Jadyn Erickson (1-4) and senior Amber Langston (1-3) also contributed to UTA's eight hits as the pair also came away with one hit apiece.

Freshman Jessica Adams picked up her 10th win of the season as the right hander threw a complete game – her 11th complete game so far this year. Across 26 batters, Adams allowed just five hits.

PLAY BY PLAY: at Georgia State (W, 5-1)
  • After a scoreless first inning, UTA's Meagan Smith gave the Mavs an early 1-0 lead after she knocked her seventh home run of the season.
  • The Mavericks extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the third after Rios drew a walk and Hukill was hit-by-pitch.
  • UTA produced four hits in the top of the fourth as Murphy came away with an RBI- double – her second double of the game – and Rios with an RBI-single that made it a 5-0 ball game.
  • The Panthers got on the board with their lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning after Georgia State's Bailee Richardson knocked an RBI-single to right field.
  • UTA's Jessica Adams went on to keep the Panthers off the board for the remainder of the game earning her 10th win of the season.
ON DECK
UTA will open Saturday play at 1:00 p.m. ET against the Georgia State Panthers as the Mavericks look to clinch the three-game conference series.
