MONROE, La – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (19-2, 7-1 SBC) began the weekend with a 4-0 sweep over ULM at Heard Stadium on Saturday morning.
The Mavericks jumped out to an early lead by capturing the doubles point in a quick manner.
Sarina Reinertsen and
Carla Pons took care of business at No. 3 doubles with a 6-3 win.
Liz Chileno and
Ana Paula Jimenez followed with a 6-4 win to capture the doubles point and put the Mavericks up 1-0 heading into singles play.
The momentum continued into singles competition as the Mavericks quickly earned the three required points to complete the sweep. Paula Jimenez took line six in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 before
Carla Pons took care of business at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
After losing the first set 3-6 on Court One,
Liz Chileno rebounded by taking the next two sets 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the win for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks will travel to Lafayette tomorrow to take on the Ragin' Cajuns at 10 am.
