MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 5 seed UT Arlington softball fell to No. 4 Troy Wednesday afternoon in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament opener at Jaguar Field.
UTA's
Jessica Adams held it down in the circle for the Mavericks before a pair of unfortunate errors by the Mavs allowed for Troy to capitalize which led to the 2-1 loss.
With the loss, the Mavericks will move into the loser's bracket to face the loser of Georgia State and South Alabama tomorrow (Thursday, May 12) with the first pitch set for 7 p.m.

Senior
Sophie Wideman paced UTA's offense going a perfect 2-2 on the day. Wideman was the one who was responsible for putting the Mavericks on the board first in the top of the fifth that scored
Jessica Carreon.
Fellow senior
Meagan Smith contributed to UTA's four hits as she went 1-2.
Kimber Cortemelia also finished 1-2 on the day.
Freshman
Jessica Adams tabbed yet another dominant performance on the mound as she threw her fourteenth complete game of the season. Despite the loss, Adams put up outstanding numbers as she limited the Trojan's offense to just two hits and one walk across 24 batters faced.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. No. 4 Troy (L, 2-1)
- The Mavericks scored first in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of an RBI-single to left center from Sophie Wideman that scored Carreon from second.
- Troy took the lead in the bottom of the fifth off a sacrifice fly ball and an RBI-single that made it a 2-1 ball game.
- UTA was unable to come back taking the 2-1 loss from the Trojans.
ON DECK
UTA will move into the loser's bracket and will play the loser of Georgia State and South Alabama on Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at Jaguar Field.
