ARLINGTON, Texas – The Mavericks dropped game two of the series against Texas State Friday with a final score of 7-2.
UTA managed to keep it a one-run game through three innings until the Bobcats' offense powered through plating four more insurance runs to secure the win. The Mavericks stranded seven runners on the bases unable to answer back.
UTA moves onto an overall record of 22-24 and a conference record of 12-14.

The Mavericks put up six hits Friday night as
KJ Murphy (1-3),
Jadyn Erickson (1-4),
Morgan Max (1-2),
Morgan Rios (1-3, 1 RBI),
Kimber Cortemelia (1-3) and
Jessica Carreon (1-3) all contributed. Rios was the one who was responsible for UTA's one earned run as the other one came from a wild pitch.
Jessica Adams started in the circle for the Mavs as she went on to throw 6.0 innings and allowed three earned runs off seven hits.
Sophomore
Gracie Bumpurs came in for Adams and tabbed one inning of work as she faced just three batters.
UTA struggled to answer back giving Adams the loss. The righty now sits on a record of 12-15.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Texas State (L, 7-2)
- The Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third off a pair of Maverick errors.
- UTA answered back in the bottom of the third inning courtesy of an RBI-single from Rios followed by a wild pitch that allowed Hoelker to come across to make it a 3-2 ball game.
- The Bobcats extended their lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth with an RBI-triple from Texas State's Ciara Trahan.
- Texas State scored one more in the top of the fifth with an RBI-single that made it 5-2.
- The Bobcats tabbed a 2-run sixth inning after making it a 7-2 ball game from back-to-back RBI-singles.
- UTA struggled to answer back falling to the Cats, 7-2.

The Mavericks will wrap up the series Saturday against the Bobcats with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. The contest will mark Senior Day for
