Women's Basketball WAC Schedule Announced

ARLINGTON – The Western Athletic Conference office released UT Arlington's league dates on Wednesday for the 2022-23 season.

The Lady Mavs home and away conference opponents had been previously announced, but now they are slotted into the following docket:
  • Thursday, Dec. 29: @ Cal Baptist
  • Saturday, Dec. 31: Tarleton
  • Wednesday, Jan. 4: UTRGV
  • Saturday, Jan. 7: @ Abilene Christian
  • Thursday, Jan. 12: Grand Canyon
  • Saturday, Jan. 14: @ Tarleton
  • Thursday, Jan. 19: @ UTRGV
  • Saturday, Jan. 21: @ Stephen F. Austin
  • Thursday, Jan. 26: Cal Baptist
  • Thursday, Feb. 2: Southern Utah
  • Saturday, Feb. 4: Utah Tech
  • Thursday, Feb. 9: @ Utah Valley
  • Saturday, Feb. 11: @ Seattle U
  • Thursday, Feb. 16: Sam Houston
  • Saturday, Feb. 18: Abilene Christian
  • Thursday, Feb. 23: @ New Mexico State
  • Saturday, Feb. 25: @ Grand Canyon
  • Wednesday, Mar. 2: Stephen F. Austin
The 18-game slate is comprised of 12 contests with six teams both home and away, three matchups with three schools just at home, and three more with three opponents only on the road.
 ,
It all leads into the WAC Tournament the week of Mar. 6-11 in Las Vegas where 12 of the league's 13 teams will advance to play the first two rounds at the Michelob ULTRA Arena on Mar. 6-7 before the final three rounds on Mar. 8-11 at Orleans Arena.

As announced earlier this summer, the WAC has implemented a resume seeding system to determine how those teams are seeded at the tournament. An algorithm will rate performance against all teams faced in the regular season, not just conference play.

Using this resume seeding system, teams will receive more credit for playing stronger opponents than weaker opponents, and beating a highly ranked team on the road carries more weight than beating that same team at home, for example.

The goal is to put the WAC into a position to earn higher NCAA Tournament seeds and more at-large consideration. This concept was approved by the WAC Athletic Directors and Board of Directors to be implemented at the 2023 WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas. To read more about it, click here.

With the non-conference schedule announced earlier this month, the UTA women's basketball 2022-23 schedule is now complete.
