ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (0-1) is scheduled to play their first home matches of the spring season on Sunday at the UT Arlington Tennis Center. The Mavericks will face Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
The Mavericks are coming off of two 5-2 losses against New Mexico and Gonzaga.
Solano Caffarena earned his first singles win of the spring season against New Mexico with a 6-2, 7-6 win on Court 2.
Santiago Giamichelle also pulled out a close 7-5, 7-5 win against the Lobos on Court 3.
Freshman
Joan Torres Espinosa won his first match as a Maverick against Gonzaga 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 5 spot.
Anton Shepp also secured his first win of the season against Gonzaga 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.
The Mavericks lost the doubles points in both matches and are looking to pick up some wins this weekend.
SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW
The Panthers are currently 0-5 in dual matches this season. This will be the sixth meeting between the Mavericks and the Panthers, with UTA holding a 6-0 record.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
Southeastern Oklahoma is set to play their first dual match of the season at UTA on Sunday. The Mavericks currently hold a 2-0 record after their last matchup in 2022.
