Men’s Golf Heads to the Rockies For Colorado’s Mark Simpson Invitational

ERIE, Colo. – The UT Arlington men's golf team returns to action on Monday at Colorado National Golf Club for Colorado's Mark Simpson Invitational following a three-week break from competition.
 
UTA head coach Casey Devoll will utilize the following five-man lineup which qualified for the event:

5) Michael Chevalier
 
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will start Monday, Oct. 1, and conclude Tuesday, Oct. 2. Day-one tee times and pairings, when posted, along with live scoring all tournament will be available via Golfstat.
 
TOURNAMENT HISTORY
This will be UTA's fifth overall appearance at the Colorado-hosted event. The Mavericks best performance at Colorado National GC came in 2019 when they placed 5th with a 54-hole score of 846, the 8th-best total in program history.
 
LINEUP INFORMATION
  • Cronje produced his best round of the season with a 214 (-2) to lead the Mavs in scoring at the Argent Financial Classic three weeks ago. The South African also carded his first two under-par rounds of the season with a 70 (-2) in the opening round and a 71 (-1) in the 2nd round.
     
  • Miller, a grad transfer from Kansas State, currently leads the Mavs in scoring average at 73.5. He produced his first under-par rounds at the Argent Financial Classic with a 70 and 71, respectively, in the 2nd and final rounds.
     
  • Kanth, the Englishman, has qualified for his third-straight tournament following a 220 (+4) showing at Louisiana Tech's Argent Financial Classic. He produced UTA's first under-par round of the season at the beginning of the year in the final round of the Golfweek Collegiate Kickoff in early September.
     
  • Kato, a native of Japan, has qualified for his first tournament of the year. Kato was a JUCO standout during his time at McClennan CC, posting a 70.5 scoring average over 24 rounds. The junior also helped spearhead McClennan to a #8 national ranking at the conclusion of the year.
     
  • Freshman Chevalier has qualified for his first collegiate tournament. The native of Grapevine was a standout at Grapevine High School, was a three-time district champion and holds the school 36-hole scoring record with a 135.

Air Force, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Grand Canyon, Mercer, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Rice, San Francisco, UT Arlington, Utah Valley, UTEP, Valparaiso, Washington State and Wyoming.
 
NEXT UP
The Mavs will head to Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan., next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10, to participate in their first Grier Jones Invitational, hosted by Wichita State. Sand Creek Station hosted the 89th, and final, U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 2014.

The world's only Major League Baseball-branded golf course, TRGC is the result of a $24 million renovation and updated routing of the former Chester W. Ditto Golf Course.
 
The Home of UTA Golf was designed by UTA alumni John Colligan and Trey Kemp of Arlington-based Colligan Golf Design.
