Greenlee Named Chief Financial Officer For UTA Athletics

ARLINGTON – Bringing a robust business background, Savannah Greenlee has been named UT Arlington Athletics Chief Financial Officer, as announced by Director of Athletics Jon Fagg on Thursday.

Greenlee, a native of Decatur, Miss., joins UTA from the University of North Texas, where she has served as the athletic department's Director of Business Operations since May of 2021.

"I'm thrilled to be become part of the UTA Athletics team," said Greenlee. "Jon Fagg exudes enthusiasm and has a clear vision for the future. I'm excited for the opportunity to work with the entire staff as we aspire to elevate our student-athletes and UTA to new heights."

In her role at UNT, Greenlee oversaw planning for individual and team travel, including air charter, commercial air, hotels and ground transportation. She also processed all travel contracts, reconciled departmental travel processes, supervised the department's Citi Bank travel advance credit card program and managed the department's Imprest Fund, among other responsibilities.

On top of that, Greenlee spearheaded a project with the UNT tax staff to register the university as a tax-exempt entity in other states where teams frequently traveled, resulting in cost savings to the department of over $15,000 to date.

Greenlee was part of the 2022 College Athletic Business Managers Association (CABMA) Innovation Team Award for assisting in the development of an essentially paperless business office, including the onboarding and offboarding processes.

"We're excited to welcome Savannah to UTA, and we look forward to the impact she will make on our financial well-being to provide the best possible student-athlete experience," added Fagg. "She brings a great wealth of business acumen in collegiate athletics, and has demonstrated an innovative mindset which will help position us strongly through an updated relationship to the campus financial structure."

Prior to her time with the Mean Green, Greenlee worked at her alma mater, Mississippi State, for five years in multiple roles. While there, she was the Business Coordinator for the athletics business office, specializing in departmental travel and various budgetary duties, and she served as Business and Insurance Coordinator within sports medicine and performance.

Greenlee was responsible for six different sports and departments at MSU, overseeing $2 million. She worked closely with the CFO and sports medicine staff to negotiate and implement the use of an outsourced claims company, which streamlined operational efficiency within the sports medicine staff through cutting the typical 30-to-60-day payment timeline to 14 days under the new system.

In her Business and Insurance Coordinator position, Greenlee operated as liaison to the business office, managing needs for four departmental units with 33 full-time employees, four interns and 28 student workers.

Greenlee, who is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in business administration from Mississippi State.

With Greenlee's hire, UTA Senior Associate AD for Finance and Administration Tony Burken will aid in her transition and will also take on an expanded role as the new Special Assistant to the Athletics Director.
