INSIDE THE SCORES
KATO
The Japanese native got through his 1st round with four birdies, three bogeys and a double to card a 71 (+1). In his 2nd round, the junior transfer had another solid showing with four birdies and two bogeys; however a double on the par-4 10th hole bumped Kato to a 70 (E) – still the lowest round of any Mav in the tournament so far.
GRIESSEL
The Washington native started on the 17th hole and got off to a solid start in his 1st round, registering two birdies and two bogeys in his first 11 holes. However, like Kato, a double on the aforementioned 10th derailed his strong start and he posted a 74 (+4). In his 2nd round, the junior was able to recover and card three birdies to almost offset four bogeys for a 71 (+1).
CHEVALIER
The freshman, starting on the 16th hole, notched just two birdies along with five bogeys for an opening-round 73 (+3). In his 2nd round, the native Texan recorded another two birdies and five bogeys; however a double on the par-4 15th hole – his last hole of the day – caused him to sign for a 75 (+5)
MENACHO
In his first round of the season, the Peru native – starting on the 17th hole – recorded three birdies, five bogeys and a double en route to an opening-round 74 (+4). In his 2nd round, the graduate student carded seven bogeys for a 77 (+7).
