Lady Mavs Fall To Illinois State In The Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic Opener

MORAGA, Calif. – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (0-5) fell to Illinois State (4-1) by a final score of 87-63 in the opener of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic.
 
Taliyah Clark had her best game in a Lady Mavs uniform, tallying 21 points off the bench on 5-15 shooting from the field and 4-9 from beyond the arc. Clark also hit on 7 of her 10 free throws, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists while collecting three steals.
 
Avery Brittingham was two rebounds short of a double double, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds. Six of the rebounds came on the defensive end, a place where she has excelled all season.35 of her 40 rebounds through five games have come via defensively.
 
Gia Adams rounded out the top scoring efforts for the Lady Mavs, finishing with 14 points on 4-for-13 shooting from the field and going 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Adams also finished with three assists and two steals in 27 minutes.
 
UTA had their best scoring run in the fourth quarter, where they went on a 10-0 run and cut the Redbird's lead down to nine with six minutes left in the game.

The Lady Mavs will battle North Carolina A&T in the final game of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic for UTA. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. central time from the UCU Pavilion.
