ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team continued their winning streak at home with a win over Cameron University at the UTA Tennis Center on Friday. With three players making impressive comebacks, the Mavericks were able to secure the 6-1 win.
 
The Mavericks took the doubles point to start off the match with a 1-0 lead. Liz Chileno and Sarina Reinertsen earned a strong 6-1 win on Court 1, improving their record to 4-1 for the spring. Bruna Casasampere and Francisca Vergara then fell 6-3 on Court 3. Anastasia Uspenskaia and Magda Wawrowska retired at 2-3 on Court 1, giving Tara Gorinsek and Ana Paula Jimenez the win and the point to UTA.
 
In singles action, the Mavericks fought hard to complete the win with three matches going to the deciding set.
 
After handily winning the first set 6-1 on Court 2, Reinertsen lost the second with a tight score of 7-5. The third set started with a large deficit, with Uspenskaia dominating 5-0 to start. Reinertsen proceeded to win seven straight games to complete the comeback.
 
Casasampere lost in a tough match on Court 4 to Lea Manga, 6-2, 6-4.
 
Vergara finished on Court 6 with a 6-3, 6-0 win. She remained undefeated for the season, improving her record to 3-0. Gorinsek soon followed, defeating Kateryna Rudenko 6-0, 6-3 on Court 3.
 
Chileno and Jimenez secured wins on Courts 1 and 5 after being down one set. Chileno lost a tight first set 7-5, then dominated the next two sets 6-2, 6-1 to secure the win. Jimenez kept her first two sets close, dropping the first 6-4 then winning the second 6-4. She played a solid third set to complete the victory, winning 6-2.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action at the UTA Tennis Center on Feb. 26 to face UT Dallas at 10 a.m.
