  • Kansas got on the board early with a 3-0 lead in its first ups from two RBI-doubles.
  • The score remained 3-0 until the fourth inning where the Jayhawks extended their lead 5-0 off an RBI-single and a sacrifice fly.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, UTA couldn't take advantage of runners on first and second despite a KU error. The Mavs were still trailing by 5 heading into the fifth.
  • The Jayhawks put the Mavericks in run-rule danger after plating two additional runs in the top of the fifth from a UTA error and an RBI-single, putting KU up by 7.
  • Unfortunately, a seven-run sixth inning from the Jayhawks put the Mavericks behind 14-0, leading to a run-rule.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: vs. Colorado State (L, 3-4)

The Mavericks put up four hits as fifth year Sophie Wideman (1-3, 2 RBI), Zaia Castruita (1-3), Ashleigh Sgambelluri (1-2) and Nicole Hill (1-3) came away with one hit each.

Wideman tabbed her second home run of the season with a solo shot in the third inning.

Junior Gracie Bumpurs started on the mound for the Mavs and tossed three innings of work, allowing three runs off three hits.
