ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (5-3) took down Trinity 7-0 on Saturday to complete back-to-back sweeps at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
The doubles point came down to the last court after the Mavericks and Tigers won one match each.
 
Anton Shepp and Solano Caffarena continue to impress at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1 victory over Alessio Azzalini and Rafa Candelas Ruiz. They hold the best doubles record for the season at 4-0.
 
Lachlan Robertson and Joan Torres Espinosa fell to Aashish Dhanani and Eric Liao on Court 2 6-3 to tie the doubles score. Dante Teramo and Ricardo Alban clinched the match for the Mavericks on Court 3 with a 6-4 win over the Tigers.
 
The Mavericks took care of business in singles play, earning the next six wins in straight sets.
 
Teramo improved his singles record to 5-3, dominating 6-1, 6-0 on Court 5. Torres Espinosa followed with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win on Court 2 over Liao.
 
Robertson continued his winning streak with another victory, making him 4-2 for the season and 4-0 at home. He defeated Dhanani 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 position.
 
Caffarena beat Connor Whittington 6-2, 6-2 on Court 3 to help the Mavs go up 5-0 in the match. Shepp finished next on Court 1 after being down a break in the second set. He defeated Azzalini 6-2, 6-3.
 
In his debut singles match for the spring season, Alban took the victory over Cal Hunter to end the day on a high note. He won 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 6 position.
 
The Mavericks will look to take on No. 1 ranked team TCU on Tuesday at 5 p.m. on the Bartzen Varsity Court in Fort Worth. Their next home match will be on Wednesday against Texas A&M- Corpus Christi at 2 p.m.
