ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (3-0) continued their early success with a 4-0 sweep over Arkansas State at the UTA Tennis Center on Sunday.
After several delays due to unsafe court conditions, the Mavericks started off strong in doubles action.
Tara Gorinsek and
Ana Paula Jimenez took care of business on Court 1, defeating Rebecca Brody and Sarah Millard 6-1.
Liz Chileno and
Sarina Reinertsen quickly followed with another 6-1 win on Court 2.
The Mavs continued to dominate in singles play after going up 1-0.
Bruna Casasampere finished first on Court 4 with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win over Anna Borovinskaya.
Francisca Vergara took the next match on Court 6 with another strong win, 6-1, 6-2.
Gorinsek remains undefeated on Court 3 after taking another win to clinch the match for the Mavericks. She defeated Abigail Thurmer 6-0, 6-3 and improved her record to 3-0 for the spring.
The Mavericks have canceled their match against UT Permian Basin. Their next match will be in Wichita, Kansas against Wichita State at 2 p.m. Saturday. They will be back at the UTA Tennis Center on Feb. 17 to face Cameron at 2 p.m.
