ARLINGTON – Current North Idaho College member and Oklahoma native Jamen Parsons has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the UT Arlington men's golf team next year as a junior.
Parsons is currently in his sophomore season at North Idaho (JUCO). In the three events the team competed in this past fall, Parsons had a 72.9 scoring average and finished in the top 25 in each of them, highlighted by a runner-up showing at the Oregon Tech Invitational at -1 (215).
Last season at North Idaho, Parsons – an athletic honor roll member – was in the team lineup at the conference championship as the Cardinals won their fourth-straight Northwest Athletic Conference title.
"Jamen will be a great addition and asset to our program," stated UTA head men's golf coach
Casey Devoll. "He comes from an athletic family – his dad played professional baseball, and Jamen also grew up playing baseball. He is very well spoken, and has an ultimate goal of playing on the PGA TOUR."
A native of Tulsa, Okla., Parsons was a Class 6A All-State First Team selection as a senior in 2021, in addition to being named First Team All-Conference. A four-year letterwinner, Parsons helped lead Jenks High School to a state runner-up placement in 2021. Individually, he posted a 6th-place finish in the 2021 6A regional and 7th-place showing in the subsequent state championship.
Parsons has claimed three PGA South Central Junior wins, and also possesses a trio of OJGT (Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour) top-10 finishes.
