ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (6-3) is gearing up to face the No. 1 ranked team in the nation TCU on Friday. The match will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Bartzen Varsity Courts.
The Mavericks are coming off of a 4-1 win over Texas A&M- Corpus Christi on Wednesday. They are also looking to continue their winning streak, as they have won the last four matches.
Anton Shepp has remained steady on Court 1, having only lost one match this season. Winning all but one match in straight sets, he holds the best singles record on the team at 8-1.
Shepp has also been impressive in doubles with partner
Solano Caffarena. They currently hold a 6-0 record on Court 1 and look to stay undefeated.
Freshman
Joan Torres Espinosa has the second most wins on the team, holding a 7-2 record in singles.
Lachlan Robertson has also been a force for the Mavericks, holding a 5-2 singles record on Courts 4, 5 and 6. He has won his past five matches in straight sets.
SCOUTING TCU
Coming off of a back-to-back ITA Indoor National Championship, the Horned Frogs are 12-0 for the spring season. They have beaten three top-10 opponents, including No. 2 Kentucky, No. 6 Texas and No. 10 Baylor. The Mavericks are 1-22 against TCU after their last meeting in 2019. The last time the Mavs defeated the Horned Frogs was in 1999.
