ARLINGTON, Texas – Freshman
Marley Neises' three-run home run led the UT Arlington softball team to a 3-2 victory over metroplex rival, North Texas, Wednesday night at Allan Saxe Field.

The Mavericks pieced four hits together as
Reagan Hukill (1-2),
Marley Neises (1-2, 3 RBI),
Zaia Castruita (1-2) and
Alaina Hampton (1-3) all came away with one hit each.
It was Neises' three-run shot that put the Mavs up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning which proved to be key in UTA's victory.
Sophomore
Jessica Adams earned the start on the mound as she went on to throw just over three innings, limiting the Mean Green to two runs off three hits.
Junior
Gracie Bumpurs tossed the rest of the contest as she did not allow a single hit in her 3.2 innings of work. Bumpurs went on to earn her fifth win of the season.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs North Texas (W, 3-2)
- The Mean Green scored first off a solo home run over the left field wall from the bat of Kailey Gamble in the top of the second.
- After a scoreless third, UNT extended its lead to 2-0 from an RBI-ground out.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, Castruita led things off with a walk before Hampton ripped a single to left field that placed runners on first and second. With two outs, Neises tabbed her third home run of the season with a 3-run shot that put UTA up 3-2.
- Bumpurs went on to keep the Mean Green off balance for the rest of the game, defeating UNT 3-2.
ON DECK
UTA will host the Trailblazers of Utah Tech this weekend at Allan Saxe Field for a three-game WAC series beginning with a doubleheader Friday, Mar. 31 followed by the final game Saturday, Apr. 1.
