ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (6-4) is set to face Lamar at 11 a.m. Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Mavericks are coming off a tough 7-0 loss in Fort Worth to No. 1 ranked TCU. They had won four consecutive matches prior to that and are looking to continue the success at home.
Freshman
Joan Torres Espinosa lost by only two breaks to the Horned Frogs on Court 4. He holds a 7-3 record for the season.
Santiago Giamichelle has been steady on Courts 2 and 3 throughout the spring, posting a 5-3 record.
Lachlan Robertson also holds a 5-3 record, with wins over Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UTSA.
Anton Shepp has been a force on Court 1, maintaining the most wins on the team with an 8-2 record. He had won seven consecutive matches before his loss to TCU's No. 13 ranked Jake Fearnley.
Shepp and
Solano Caffarena have been dominant on the doubles court with only one loss for the season. They hold a 5-1 record, posting wins over Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UTSA.
SCOUTING LAMAR
The Cardinals are 8-7 for the spring season. The Mavericks hold a 26-1 record over the Cardinals after their last meeting in 2022. The last time Lamar beat UTA was in 2014.
