ARLINGTON, Texas – With a pair of costly errors, the UT Arlington softball team dropped its final game of the three-day Boerner Invitational Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Lamar.
UTA finished 3-2 on the weekend and now sit on an overall record of 9-11.
It was no doubt that the Mavericks' offense showed out over the weekend as the squad compiled 26 runs off a total of 42 hits. Freshman
Marley Neises led the way with a .500 batting average going 5-10 with five RBI across the five games. The outfielder also tabbed her first collegiate home run in Saturday's game against the Kansas City Roos.
Following Neises is senior
Lindsey Franklin who logged her second and third home run of the season in the Mavericks' back-to-back wins Saturday against Kansas City and Rider. Franklin ended the weekend with six RBI leading her to 12 overall.

The Mavericks put up just three hits against Lamar as
Reagan Hukill (1-3),
Paris Brienesse (1-3) and
Zaia Castruita (1-2) were the ones responsible.
Junior
Gracie Bumpurs started on the mound for UTA as she went on to toss four innings, limiting the Cardinals' offense to two runs off four hits.
Sophomore
Jessica Adams came in and shut Lamar's bats down keeping them off the board through the rest of the game. With the Mavs unable to fight back, Bumpurs was given the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Lamar (L, 0-2)
- Through two scoreless innings, Lamar put up a 1-0 lead off a UTA error in the top of the third.
- In the top of the fourth, the Cardinals went on to score one more to make it a 2-0 game off another Maverick error.
- Unfortunately, UTA couldn't piece anything together falling to the Cardinals 2-0.
ON DECK
UTA will pick right back up next Wednesday with its second midweek matchup of the season as the Mavericks will welcome No. 11 Texas to Allan Saxe Field for a 6 p.m. start time.
