LAKE CHARLES, La. – The UT Arlington softball team (17-22) prepares to face the Cowgirls of McNeese for the second time this season Wednesday, Apr. 19 from Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond with a 6 p.m. start time.

SERIES HISTORY
Heading into Wednesday, the Mavericks lead the overall series with the Cowgirls, 50-46. This will mark the second time both programs will face each other this season after the Mavs suffered an 8-0 loss back at the Tracy Beard College Classic in Celina, Texas (2/18/23).
UTA NOTES (17-22)
- The Mavericks are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Allan Saxe Field as UTA dropped its conference series to Abilene Christian. UTA is 17-22 overall and 7-8 in WAC play.
- Freshman standout Marley Neises continues to be a key part in head coach Kara Dill's lineup as Neises leads with a .375 batting average, 36 hits, 20 RBI and a .594 slugging percentage. The outfielder is on a 12-game hitting streak - most of the Maverick squad. Neises hit .500 (7-14) in UTA's series against ACU as she tabbed two home runs and five RBI.
- Along with Neises, Paris Brienesse and Morgan Westbrook are the only other players who currently hold a .300 average or higher. Brienesse sits on a .310 BA across 32 games played while Westbrook holds a .304 average. Westbrook is also coming off a solid weekend as she collected two multi-hit contests against the Wildcats.
- Jessica Adams leads the Maverick pitching rotation with over 128 innings of work as the sophomore sits on an ERA of 2.67. The righty has 51 strike outs on the year, 10 wins and seven complete games under her belt.
- Junior Gracie Bumpurs has been the other half of head coach Kara Dill's staff as Bumpurs has appeared in 29 games for UTA this season. The right-handed pitcher has thrown 91.2 innings, coming away with 32 strike outs.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | MCNEESE (32-12)
- The Cowgirls are riding on a six-game winning streak after tabbing a conference series sweep over Nicholls this past weekend as McNeese sits on an overall record of 32-12.
- Six Cowgirls are batting .300 or higher as sophomore Mariana Torres leads the way with a .336 average, 10 doubles, 32 RBI across 44 games played.
- Sophomore Reese Reyna (.331) and senior Alayis Seneca (.328) share a team-high of 39 hits on the year.
- Fellow senior Whitney Tate leads overall pitching rotation with 113.1 innings of work for McNeese with a 13-3 record. Tate has nine complete games to her name and a low ERA of 1.49.
- Junior Ashley Vallejo has logged 84 strike outs on the year – most of the Cowgirl staff – with the second-most innings pitched with 90.1.
ON DECK
From Lake Charles, UTA will travel out west to Las Cruces, New Mexico for a three-game WAC series at New Mexico State beginning with a doubleheader Friday, Apr. 21 followed by the series finale Saturday, Apr. 22.
