ARLINGTON, Texas ---
JD Brooks has officially joined the UT Arlington women's basketball staff as the director of operations.
Brooks spent the past eight years in the same role at the University of South Alabama, where he was part of a staff that guided the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in a decade as well as consecutive national postseason tournament berths for the first time since 2004.
"We are excited to add JD to our family," UTA head coach
Shereka Wright said. "He comes to Arlington with a wealth of experience in the DOBO position, and he is highly recommended from his peers in the profession. JD will continue to add another dimension to our staff with his versatility in different areas of the job."
Prior to his tenure at South Alabama, Brooks spent five years as a student assistant with the University of North Alabama men's basketball program. While there, he assisted with the daily operations of the program, including game film exchange and breakdown, managing team travel, coordinating events for the coaching staff, creating community outreach opportunities for the players and staff and supervising locker room care and setup, as well as practice set up and take down, game day operations, organization and upkeep of equipment.
Away from the court, Brooks has helped served as a volunteer with Special Olympics at both the state and local levels. Â As a student, he was named to UNA's Dean's List on four occasions and was also a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.
A member of Rising Coaches Elite, Brooks earned a bachelor's degree from North Alabama in December 2014.
