Crown Golf Academy Product Diego Nuno Signs With UTA

ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington men's golf team has added another member to its 2023-24 roster as Diego Nuno has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Mavericks this fall as a freshman.

A native of Puebla, Mexico, Nuno has honed his craft in Arlington for the last year as a member of the Crown Golf Junior Academy at Texas Rangers Golf Club – the home course of UTA. The residential program provides a world class golf and academic experience for juniors, with Nuno graduating from Plano-based Spring Creek Academy.

"Despite coming from Mexico, Diego has familiarity with UTA through his time at Crown Golf," said head men's golf coach Casey Devoll. "He is very efficient on the golf course and does not waste shots. I believe the transition to college golf should be relatively seamless for Diego."

Nuno carried a season scoring average of 74 in 2021-22, and boasts a career-low tournament round of 5-under 67. He is a former Golf Sur Tour Champion, and is a 3rd-place finisher at the MJGA (Mexico Junior Golf Association) San Luis event.

Nuno is the third member of UTA's incoming signing class, joining North Idaho College junior transfer Jamen Parsons and freshman Grapevine native Michael Chevalier.
