Caffarena, a graduate senior, returns for his fifth season at Arlington after being named First Team All-WAC in singles (15-11) and doubles (16-11) last year. Teramo, a sophomore, was named Second Team All-WAC in singles (13-5) and doubles (14-5) while another sophomore, Espinosa, went 12-9 in singles and 9-10 in doubles.
Â
A pair of newcomers joined UTA in the fall -
Yazid Lahjomri and
Pedro Sasso. The Mavs then added a pair of freshmen -
Meethre Barot and
Andres Medus - earlier this month.
Â
Sasso joined the team after earning First Team All-Mideastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) recognition over two seasons at South Carolina State. Lahjomri (Morocco), Medus (Argentina) and Barot (Frisco, Texas) are all freshmen.
Â
Following this weekend, the Mavs will open up their home slate next Sunday against Prairie View A&M (10 a.m.) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (2 p.m.). Both matches will be at the UTA Tennis Center.
