NORMAN, Okla.-- The UT Arlington men's tennis team (0-1) fell 4-0 in their season opener against No. 24 Oklahoma (3-0) at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Sooners were quick to take the doubles point, taking Courts 3 and 1 to clinch the early lead.

Freshman pair
Andres Medus and
Meethre Barot fell 6-0 to Anselmo Baptiste and Justin Schlageter on Court 3. Court 1 followed, with graduate senior
Solano Caffarena and
Pedro Sasso losing 6-1 to Alex Martinez and Kholo Montsi to give OU the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Singles play followed similarly, with the Sooners earning the next three matches for the 4-0 win.

Medus finished first on Court 5, falling to Mark Mandlik in straight sets. Mandlik defeated Medus 6-2, 6-2 to gain the 2-0 lead.

Returning sophomore
Dante Teramo dropped the next match on Court 3, losing to Schlageter 6-3, 6-0.

No. 89 Luis Alvarez clinched the match for the Sooners on Court 4 against South Carolina State transfer Sasso. Alvarez took the match in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Caffarena, No. 108
Joan Torres Espinosa and
Yazid Lahjomri all went unfinished. No. 91 Martinez was up one set on Caffarena. Espinosa was down one set to Jordan Hasson but up 5-3 in the second set. Lahjomri was down one set to Harazaki.

The Mavericks will be back in action on Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. for their first home match of the season at the UTA Tennis Center.
