ARLINGTON, Texas –
Dante Teramo was named the Western Athletic Conference Singles Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, for the week ending on Monday, Jan. 29.
Teramo has played singles and doubles in all three spring matches for the Mavs so far, holding a 1-2 doubles record and a 2-1 singles record. In the Mav's most recent double header, he earned his first two singles wins at the No. 1 position. He defeated Prairie View A&M's Abdulraheem Isa 6-1, 6-0 and Southeastern Oklahoma's Juan Gonzalez in an exciting tiebreaker, 6-2, 6-7(8), 10-4.
Teramo also earned solid wins in the fall season in both singles and doubles. In singles, he defeated SMU's Kyle Sillman 7-6 (1), 6-2 in October and also 6-3, 6-3 in November. In doubles action, he defeated TCU's Luke Swan and Kaj Quirjins 8-6, Harvard's Valdemar Pape and Marc Ktiri 6-0 and SMU's Sillman and Louis Cloud 6-4, all with partner
Joan Torres Espinosa.
In 2023 as a freshman at UTA, Teramo was selected to the Second All-WAC singles and doubles teams, finishing with a 13-5 singles record and a 14-5 doubles record. He was also an Academic All-WAC Team selection.
The Mavericks look to compete in the Cajun Tennis Classic at the Cajun Courts in Lafayette, La. on Friday and Saturday for their next series of matches. Their next home match is set for Feb. 9 against Rice at 2 p.m.
