ARLINGTON, TEXAS ---
Avery Brittingham joined an elite group while
Taliyah Clark poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the UT Arlington women's basketball team to an 81-62 win over Stephen F. Austin inside the College Park Center on Saturday.
Â
With the victory, the Mavs (6-8, 2-2 WAC) continued a hot stretch, capturing the program's fifth-consecutive victory and producing UTA's first win over SFA (9-6, 3-1) since March 21, 2019 - snapping a three-game losing streak to the Lumberjacks.
Â
Brittingham finished with 11 points, matched her career-high with 11 assists and added 10 rebounds for her second career triple-double, which includes one against Texas Southern last year when she played for SFA. Impressively, the forward becomes just the fourth player in WAC history to tally multiple triple-doubles, joining Bella Earle (Abilene Christian), Ericka Mattingly (Kansas City) and Alexis Montgomery (Seattle U).
"It means a lot," Brittingham said. "A triple-double is big. It's really hard to get. I'm grateful for my teammates, especially TC. She had a bunch of big buckets, as far as getting me the assists. It means a lot, especially beating SFA."
Brittingham, a local product from Crowley High School who spent her first three collegiate seasons at SFA, also recorded just the second triple-double in UTA history, joining Krystal Buchanan, who had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Sam Houston on Jan. 14, 2002. Saturday was also Brittingham's sixth double-double of the season, and she's reached double-digit points in every game this year.
