Manikandesh Makes Stride in Leaderboard Following Day Two at Diamante Intercollegiate

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – UT Arlington's Kamri Gabel and Nitisha Manikandesh guided the Mavericks to a 2nd-round 291 on Monday, Oct. 21 to conclude day two of Little Rock's Diamante Intercollegiate.
 
Junior Manikandesh is currently tied for 5th place among the 99-player field after submitting rounds of 72-69 as she now has five rounds of par or better on the season. The Plano product's fall campaign has been nothing short of impressive after recording two 8th-place finishes at the Maverick Classic (9/16-17) and Bearkat Invitational (9/23-24) along with an 18th-place showing at last week's Lady Red Wolves Classic (10/14-15).
 
Across two days of action in Hot Springs Village, Gabel leads the UTA lineup with 10 birdies and Manikandesh leads with 27 pars.

Manikandesh
  • Manikandesh played the back nine – her front nine – 2-under, producing a 34 with a pair of birdies on 12 and 15. After making the turn, the junior went on to birdie hole 4 before a bogey on 8 set her card back -2. With an impressive closing birdie, the veteran capped a sub-par round of 69.
Gabel
  • After birdieing the first three holes (10-12), Gabel bogeyed two of the next six holes that placed her card at -1. Following a double on hole 1, the junior played the closing holes even with par with two additional birdies on 3 and 9.
Bhoga
  • The freshman got off to a hot start to Monday's round, producing a 35 (-1) across the opening nine with her first birdie of the round on 11. Following another birdie on 3, Bhoga recorded three hiccups over the final four holes, settling for a round of 74.
Gulhane
  • Gulhane shaved one shot off Sunday's first round as the sophomore logged a 76. The Cedar Park, Texas native's card consisted of five bogeys, 12 pars and one birdie which came on the par-4 5th hole.
NEXT UP
UTA will round out fall action and Diamante Intercollegiate play with the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from Diamante Country Club.
