ABILENE, Texas – The inaugural Western Athletic Conference Fall Tennis Invitational wrapped up with a bang for the UT Arlington men's tennis program with
Andres Medus punching his ticket to the ITA Conference Masters Tournament.
Medus, who won three matches in three days as the No. 6 seed, is the WAC singles qualifier for the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championship No. 7-10 in Rome, Georgia. The Argentinian will be one of the 32 singles players fighting for four automatic bids to the NCAA Singles Championship Nov. 19-24 in Waco.
Medus defeated the No. 1 overall seed Nikita Volonski from Grand Canyon 6-4, 6-2.
The men's double team of
Yazid Lahjomri and
Pedro Sasso fell to GCU's Brice Patoux and David Wekesa in a close match 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
On the women's side,
Ana Paula Jimenez fell in a close match to Tarleton State's Noelia Lorca 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 6-4 in the finals.
