ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team defeated the University of North Texas – Dallas 87-51 on Wednesday night in an exhibition in what was the 2024-25 Lady Mavs' first game time action in front of fans inside the College Park Center.
Three Lady Mavs finished with double digits, highlighted by
Koi Love who paced the UTA offense, recording 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, hitting three triples. Love also grabbed five rebounds while dishing out five assists, also added three steals in 24 minutes of action.
Taliyah Clark finished with 17 points, hitting four three-pointers in 19 minutes while also adding one rebound, one assist and two steals.
Aspen Thornton played a healthy 21 minutes off the bench, scoring 10 points while dishing out three assists and grabbing one board.
Laura Bello registered eight points while grabbing five rebounds.
Aubrey Reid scored seven points, grabbed two boards and dished out one assist.
Avery Brittingham scored six points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.
As a unit, UTA forced the Jaguars into 27 turnovers and turned those into 35 points. The Lady Mavs' bench outscored UNT Dallas by 26 points, 35-9. For the game, UTA shot 48-percent from the field while shooting 36-percent from deep and 68-percent from the charity stripe.
UTA's best scoring quarter was the second, where they dropped 27 points while holding the Jaguars to eight to take a 46-21 lead into the locker room. The Lady Mavs' best scoring run also came in the second quarter, rattling off 16 unanswered points.
Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Mavs had another 20 points quarter, dropping 22 before ending the fourth quarter with 19 points to end the night.
The Lady Mavs begin the 2024-25 regular season on the road this upcoming Monday, Nov. 4, when they take on the Wildcats of Arizona from inside the McKale Center at 6 p.m. CT.
