MONROE, Louisiana – UT Arlington men's basketball remains on the road and is set to take on Louisiana-Monroe (3-6) on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. CT from Fant-Ewing Coliseum live on
ESPN+ and on the radio on the
Varsity Sports Network.
The Mavs are entering play coming off a 1-2 trip to the Sunshine State, where they faced Murray State (neutral site matchup), Austin Peay and Rhode Island (as part of the Jacksonville Classic). The Mavs fell 79-66 to Murray State, defeated Austin Peay 68-58 and came up just short against Rhode Island, 83-78. The Warhawks, meanwhile, most recently lost at home 68-60 to Stephen F. Austin.
The Mavs have been buoyed by the arrival of big-man
Lance Ware, who made his UTA debut across the trio of games in Jacksonville. The New Jersey native is averaging 14.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 2.0 bpg in his three appearances for the Mavs, all starts. Guard
Jaden Wells, the team's leading scorer (15.1 ppg), is coming off an 18-point, nine rebound performance on Thanksgiving against Rhode Island, where he knocked down four triples.
The Warhawks are led by 15th-year head coach Keith Richard. The ULM grad has coached previously at Louisiana Tech (1998-2007) and has also been an assistant at LSU (2008-10), LA Tech (1995-98), ULM (1989-94) and Marshall (1986-89).
Louisiana-Monroe is led by Guard Jalen Bolden, who is averaging a team-high 13.1 ppg and 5.3 rpg. Forward Makai Willis (9.1 ppg and 4.7 rpg) and guard Coltie Young (9.2 ppg, 42.6% from distance) are also key fixtures for ULM.
The two teams will be meeting for the 80
th time in a busy series between the two programs. ULM has won the last two meetings (January and February in 2022), but the Mavs have won seven of the past 10 meetings dating back to 2018. ULM leads the all-time series 53-26.
