Dill Unveils 2025 Softball Schedule

ARLINGTON – UT Arlington head softball coach Kara Dill announced the 2025 softball schedule Monday as UTA's slate is highlighted by several power five opponents along with two home tournaments and 23 home games.

"There has been some great growth in our team this offseason which makes us excited for the competitive spring schedule ahead of us," shared Dill. "The 2025 schedule presents a well-rounded mix of challenging matchups on the road as well as hosting some top 25 teams at Allan Saxe Field. We are looking forward to getting our Mavericks on the field this spring."

UTA will open the spring in San Antonio to compete in Incarnate Word's tournament that will feature Prairie View A&M and Eastern Illinois (Feb. 7-9) before a single game matchup at McNeese on Feb.13.

The Mavs will travel down the bayou from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge for LSU's three-day tournament (Feb. 14-16) to face the Tigers, Northwestern Wildcats, and Virginia Tech Hokies. This will mark the ninth overall meeting between the two teams as UTA leads the series record with LSU, 5-3. The Mavericks' last appearance at Tiger Park was back in February of 2018.

For the third preseason tournament of the season, UTA's 6th Boerner Invitational (Feb. 20-23) will serve as the Mavs' home opener at Allan Saxe Field. The annual tournament will feature Northwestern State, Yale, North Texas, and Incarnate Word. The Boerner Invitational – named in honor of Melissa Boerner, a former UTA softball captain who was killed by a drunk driver the day before her senior year began in 1998 – is to help raise awareness to the importance of responsible drinking.

Following a midweek contest at Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 25, the Mavericks will turn around and round out preseason action in Arlington for the Maverick Invitational (Feb. 28-Mar. 1). The three-team field will consist of UTA, Prairie View A&M, and Texas A&M – Commerce.

To kick off WAC competition, the Mavs will host Utah Tech (Mar. 7-8) followed by UTSA on Mar. 11. UTA will continue conference play with a three-game series at Tarleton beginning Mar. 14.

The Mavericks will play back-to-back midweek contests against Houston Christian (Mar. 18) in Arlington and North Texas (Mar. 19) in Denton. Following a home series with Abilene Christian (Mar. 21-22), UTA will begin a four-game away stretch with power five opponent Baylor (Mar. 25) and conference foe Utah Valley (Mar. 28-29).

UTA will open April with four-time national champion Oklahoma in Arlington before taking a 10-day break from the field.

The Mavs will head out west to face California Baptist (Apr. 11-12) before hosting Grand Canyon at Allan Saxe Field the following weekend.

A Wednesday night game at Texas Tech (Apr. 23) will serve as the final midweek of the spring as the Mavs will be in Cedar City, Utah a few days later for their last away series against Southern Utah (Apr. 26-27). The Mavericks will bring regular season play to a close with Seattle U (May 2-3) at Allan Saxe Field.

The WAC Tournament will take place in Riverside, California from May 7-10 and will be hosted by California Baptist. NCAA postseason competition kicks off on May 16 with the first round of NCAA Regionals.
